- ItemFactibilidad de la reducción de la jornada laboral en empresas de servicios grandes ecuatorianas(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Gallo Enríquez, Nicole Estefanía; Gonzales Delgado, Byron Leodan; Silva Guzmán, Martha PatriciaFor centuries, long working hours have negatively impacted workers' health, well-being, and "For centuries, long working hours have negatively impacted workers' health, well-being, and productivity, as well as the efficiency and competitiveness of companies. Research in countries such as Germany, Spain, and Japan has demonstrated the benefits of reducing working hours. In this context, this study focuses on determining the feasibility of reducing working hours in large service companies in Ecuador, where labor legislation follows traditional models. A non-experimental, exploratory, and instrumental quantitative approach was used. A survey was structured with five dimensions: willingness, work-life balance, benefits, productivity, and flexibility, applied to 62 employees from 31 large companies in the communication and information services sector. The results showed a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.819, indicating high reliability of the instrument, and a suitable KMO – Bartlett analysis for factor analysis. Additionally, dimension scoring revealed a 79.03% acceptance rate among employers for reducing working hours, and a general acceptance rate of 71.5% regarding the feasibility of implementing this measure in their companies. The findings suggest that reducing working hours is not only feasible but could also improve talent retention and the competitiveness of companies in Ecuador. It is recommended that companies lead this change through pilot programs, benefiting workers' quality of life and strengthening their competitiveness in a global market that values work-life balance. It is also suggested to conduct the same research in other sectors of the economy.
